Elliot Menard
Grant Writer
Elliot Menard is an opera-maker: a vocalist, composer, producer, and grant writer. She is passionate about bringing new opera-theater to life and programming, producing, and performing new music, particularly by underrepresented composers. As a vocalist, she performs opera, art song, and choral repertoire (from early to contemporary), as well as Jewish cantorial music, jazz, and improvisation. As a composer, she explores how text causes music to emerge, opposing forces, and the voice. Her producorial practice, as the Development Director and Co-Founder of Renegade Opera, centers on democratizing opera, supporting emerging artists and living composers, and exploring the medium’s many forms. As a grant writer, she works towards the redistribution of wealth to increase access in the arts for audiences and artists. She is the Grants Coordinator for Urban Voices Project and writes grants for Resonance Collective, Renegade Opera, Aquilon Music Festival, and artist projects. She holds an M.F.A. in Voice Arts from the California Institute of the Arts and a B.A. in Classics from Reed College. |
